Democrats, The Evil is Within You – IV Words – The Progressive Perspective

National convention delegates sing “La-la-la-la-la…” all the way home.

Delegates to the Democratic National Convention have given the world a more-than-fitting metaphor for the Democratic party’s failures with regard to the nearly 11-month-old Israeli genocide of Palestinians.

When it comes to what Israel is doing in The Gaza Strip and The West Bank, the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week was a mass joy-joy bath of delusion and deceitfully sanitized repetition of Kumbaya for four straight days. Despite a concerted effort by thousands of people signing petitions and pressuring the DNC, the Harris Campaign declined to allow a Palestinian-American to address the convention even though an Israeli-American was allowed to do so.

Meanwhile, outside the United Center, the site of the convention, pro-Palestinian protestors read the names of some of the more than 186,000 Palestinians killed by Israel since Oct. 7, 2023. Delegates leaving the convention center plugged their ears with their fingers or covered them with their hands, many of them saying “La-la-la-la-la…” or something equivalent to drown out the names of the dead being broadcast over a public address system.

This immediately brought to mind the Three Wise Monkeys who, in Japanese tradition, “see no evil, hear no evil and speak no evil.” In Buddhism, the monkeys – Mizaru (covering his eyes), Kikazaru (ears) and Iwazaru (mouth) – were considered wise because “the tenets of the proverb are about not dwelling on evil thoughts.”

However, over the years the proverb has taken on more sinister attributes. As the Scholarly Community Encyclopedia explains –

“In the Western world both the proverb and the image are often used to refer to a lack of moral responsibility on the part of people who refuse to acknowledge impropriety, looking the other way or feigning ignorance.”

In other words, it has come to mean that if you don’t allow yourself to see something, if you don’t allow yourself to hear about something and if you don’t allow yourself to speak about something, then as far as you’re concerned it does not exist and you have no moral responsibility related to it.

This video, it seems to me, perfectly represents the actions and attitudes of the Democratic party, the Democratic National Committee, presidential candidates Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and establishment Democrats en masse with regard to their immoral indifference to the tens of thousands of innocent children, women and men annihilated by Israel.

Granted, the Republicans are blatant about their disregard for human life, especially if the life in question isn’t wrapped in white skin, but that doesn’t exonerate the Dems. And, sadly, in many cases the Dems are just as guilty as the Repubs, going beyond disingenuousness to outright dishonesty.

You can’t claim, as Harris has, to be doing everything possible to bring about a ceasefire while reassuring the zionists you will continue providing all the funds and weapons they need to continue firing. You cannot claim to be horrified by the extent of death and destruction and then, the very next day, send $3.5 billion more to ensure the genocide continues.

In fact, disingenuous is not even close to a strong enough word.

Nor is hypocrisy.

This is evil.

Unconditional support of Israel – no matter how many Palestinians it kills – has been the policy of many past presidents, is the policy of the current president, and will be the policy of the woman who wants to be president if she is elected. And make no mistake – these policies are about power, control and, above all, money.

But the delegates – and Democrats en masse – do not want to hear about it. Rather, they put their fingers in their ears, walk by the video camera repeating “La-la-la-la-la…” and make dismissive faces and gestures at the camera.

They refuse to hear the names of the dead Palestinian children. They decline to see the images of devastation caused by bombs with razor-sharp blades embedded to cause maximum carnage. They decline to speak of the indescribable horrors the policies they support are unleashing upon their fellow human beings.

See no evil. Hear no evil. Speak no evil.

Money. Money. Money.

Democrats, there is no point in covering your eyes, obstructing your ears or holding your tongues to keep evil out; it is already deep within you.
