The first production vehicle of the Onvo L60 is expected to roll off the line in mid-August, with the model’s interior to be unveiled within two weeks, Onvo’s president said.
Onvo, a sub-brand of Nio (NYSE: NIO), expects to see its first production vehicle roll off the line in the middle of this month, and has rolled out a charging map ahead of the official launch of its first model, the L60, next month.
The first production vehicle of the Onvo L60 is expected to roll off the line in mid-August, with the model’s interior to be unveiled in two weeks, Onvo president Ai Tiecheng said in a live video live streaming today.
Nio officially launched the Onvo brand on May 15, a sub-brand internally codenamed Alps that targets the mass market.
The Onvo L60 made its debut on May 15 and became available for pre-order at a pre-sale price of RMB 219,900 ($30,710), including the battery.
The model would be officially launched and begin deliveries in September, Onvo said at the time.
The Onvo L60 would officially go on sale in late September, and deliveries will begin about a week after the launch, at the end of September, Ai said in a separate July 25 video live streaming.
Onvo originally expected the L60 to have more than 1,000 battery swap stations available at launch, though that plan will be adjusted.
Onvo L60 will have fewer than 1,000 battery swap stations available when it is launched at the end of September, and Onvo will move forward based on delivery cadence and user demand, Shen Fei, Nio’s vice president of energy business, said in today’s live streaming.
The current goal is to have 1,000 battery swap stations available for the Onvo brand by the end of the year, according to Shen.
As of the end of July, Nio had built 10 fourth-generation battery swap stations that are available to both the Nion main brand and Onvo and completed the retrofit of 49 third-generation stations for Onvo, according to a post on the Onvo App today.
Nio unveiled the fourth-generation battery swap stations at its last Nio Day event on December 23, 2023, and put the first of the latest-generation stations into operation on June 13.
For older battery swap stations, Nio plans to move forward with retrofitting them to fit Onvo vehicles.
Onvo will see the number of available battery swap stations add more than 300 in peak month during the rest of the year, including new and retrofitted, according to the article in the Onvo App.
Onvo today added a charging map section to its mobile app to showcase the battery swap stations, Nio charging stations and third-party charging resources available to the brand.
Similar to what the main Nio brand has done previously, Onvo is allowing L60 pre-order holders to submit wish lists by September 3, selecting the addresses where they want battery swap stations to be available.
