Sadly, in the four months between creation and publication, the Israeli inhumanity against Palestinians has only escalated.
I am pleased to be able to say that The Rising Phoenix Review has published my poem of Palestine, “Qahwa Helwe.” Check it out. Thank you to Editor-in-Chief Christian Sammartino for selecting it.
Qahwa Helwe is Arabic for the sweet “goodbye coffee” served to guests prior to their departure.
I published the piece here first, on IV Words, about four months ago.
At the same time I’m delighted that the poem has been published, I am saddened to say that, since I wrote this piece, Israel has continued to accelerate its genocide of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and the USA has continued to support the zionists with funding and shipments of weapons.
My fellow humans, we can do better than this. We must do better than this.
