Report: Tesla will release two Model Y versions next year

A Chinese news outlet – Late Post – has obtained and shared information that Tesla plans to launch two Model Y versions next year. The first is a 5-seat version, code-named Juniper, and planned for Q1 launch. The second is a totally new 7-seater and is scheduled for a Q4 launch. It may be available exclusively in China and will be different from the 7-seater sold in the U.S. According to the report, the update of the Model Y was initially planned for this year, however, the progress on the update has been sluggish and the launch has been postponed for next year. As for the details that will be changed, it is expected that they will be similar to the updates applied to the Tesla Model 3, including size and shape fine-tuning, interior details improvement, autonomous driving hardware, and battery capacity adjustment. In addition, information from the supply chain shows that Tesla is also preparing a two-box compact version of the Model Y, which is expected to be released in 2025, with mass production preparations to be completed in the third quarter, and delivered in 2026.
