SCGP has received certification for carbon footprints from the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (Public Organization) for a range of products manufactured in Thailand. This certification covers product groups including pulp, printing and writing paper, packaging paper, paper packaging, food packaging, and plastic packaging. This initiative aims to encourage customers to use packaging that reduces greenhouse gas emissions, promoting a sustainable world.
Mr. Wichan Jitpakdee, Chief Executive Officer of SCG Packaging Public Company Limited (SCGP), emphasized SCGP’s commitment to creating a low-carbon society, aligning with the company’s goal of achieving Net Zero by 2050. SCGP is dedicated to growing its business with quality, developing innovative products for the environment, and complying with climate change measures, such as the European Union’s requirement to specify greenhouse gas emissions from products. This effort aims to deliver environmentally friendly packaging to customers and respond to consumer preferences for sustainable packaging.
Recently, SCGP’s products manufactured in Thailand received carbon footprint certification, including 109 products in categories such as pulp, paper, packaging paper, and plastic packaging. Additionally, SCGP has been certified for carbon footprints from 16 printing and paper packaging molding processes, covering all paper packaging product groups under the Cradle to Gate (B2B) assessment. For the photocopy paper and food packaging (Fest) product groups, a total of 19 products have been certified under the Cradle to Grave (B2C) assessment, indicating the greenhouse gases released throughout the product lifecycle, from raw material acquisition to production, distribution, usage, and waste management.
This carbon footprint certification reflects SCGP’s goal of collaborating with customers to develop packaging that reduces greenhouse gas emissions throughout the supply chain. This allows customers to comply with increasing environmental measures from governments in various countries. Clearly stating the amount of greenhouse gases also helps consumers make informed decisions to choose products that contribute to reducing environmental problems.
